After playing just eight minutes in his first game back from injury in a lopsided Friday night loss to Alberta, Kedar Wright proved to be the catalyst for the Thunderbirds Saturday evening as they earned their first win of the season, a 89-84 road victory over the Golden Bears.

Wright played 21 minutes and led UBC in scoring with 19 points. He was 5-for-8 from three point land. The second-year guard from Toronto, ON was a member of the Canada West All-Rookie team in 2013-14.

Saturday’s win also marked the 600th career win as a head coach for Thunderbirds bench boss Kevin Hanson. He has won 339 games as a head coach at UBC and another 261 wins at Langara College.

UBC will remain on the road this weekend with a trip to Manitoba to take on the University of Winnipeg.
