Joe Antilla and the UBC Thunderbirds men's hockey team are coming off a weekend to remember at the Great Northwest Showcase tournament in Burnaby, BC.
A second-year player from Maderia Park, BC, Antilla helped the Thunderbirds to a 3-2 overtime win over NCAA Division 1 powerhouse, the University of North Dakota, Friday night and then a 1-0 victory against Princeton University Saturday night.
Antilla scored the tieing goal Friday with just 52 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime and then subsequently assisted on Jason Yee's game winning goal. In Saturday's game he had an assist on the game's only goal scored by Nate Fleming.
Antilla heads into next weekend's action on a six game point streak, scoring three goals and adding five assists in the process.Â
The Thunderbirds will head to Regina for a crucial two game series against the Cougars as they look to continue their strong play.
