Accessible Seating
 
Wheelchair-accessible seating is available at all UBC sporting venues including War Memorial Gym, Thunderbird Arena, Father Bauer Arena, Ken Woods Field and Thunderbird Stadium. All wheelchair-accessible seating also has a single adjacent companion seat. When purchasing your ticket, please inform guest.services@ubc.ca of any special need that requires accommodation.
 
Alcohol Service Times
 
FOOTBALL – Alcohol will be served until the beginning of the 4th quarter.
BASKETBALL – Alcohol will be served until the beginning of the 4th quarter.
VOLLEYBALL – Alcohol will be served until the midway through the last set.
HOCKEY – Alcohol will be served until the 10-minute mark of the 3rd period.
 
Times are subject to change and management reserves the right to stop alcohol service at its discretion.

Allergies
 
The UBC Thunderbirds are happy to accommodate fans with food allergies or medical conditions that require a specific type of food or beverage. Fans with allergies or conditions may be permitted to bring certain items into UBC sporting venues.
 
Animals
 
UBC sporting venues prohibit animals of any kind with the exception of service animals. All other animals will be asked to remain outside the facility.

Baby Changing Stations
 
Baby Changing Stations are located in all UBC sporting venues in most washrooms and in all designated family washrooms. Should you require direction to a baby changing station, please request information from a member of the UBC Varsity Events team. 
 
Bag Policy
 
The UBC Thunderbirds ask that all guests to arrive early and travel light to our events. All persons and bags are subject to search upon entry to the facility. Bags that have passed through the inspection point must fit comfortably under your seat.
 
Oversized bags and suitcases are not prohibited at any UBC sporting venue and venues do not provide an area to check bags, coats or any other personal belongings.
 
Banners & Signs
 
Fans are welcome to display banners or signs in support of their team, provided they are not attached to posts or stick and do not:
  • Contain obscene messages
  • Hinder, interfere or impair other fans’ view
  • Cover existing signage
  • Become affixed to walls / glass / seats
  • Contain any commercial messages
 
Box Office
 
Box Offices are located at each UBC sporting venue and are active one hour prior to game start. Please see Ticketing for more information.

Code of Conduct
 
The UBC Thunderbirds are committed to providing a safe, comfortable and fun experience for fans visiting all of our venues. To that end, we ask that all fans conduct themselves in a legally appropriate and respectful manner and avoid offensive / abusive behaviour to other fans or UBC Thunderbirds staff.
 
Unacceptable behaviours include but are not limited to:
  • Foul / abusive language or obscene gestures
  • Overt impairment related to alcohol or drug consumption
  • Being a minor in possession of alcohol or providing alcohol to a minor
  • Smoking of any substance (including e-cigarette)
  • Disruption of the game including throwing objects or trespassing on the field
  • Fighting or making threatening remarks or gestures
  • Any behaviour deemed unsafe by members of the UBC Varsity Events team
 
Any fan not in adherence of the Fan Code of Conduct may be asked to vacate the venue.
 
Please conduct yourself by:
  • Respecting all staff, fans and athletes in the venue
  • Drinking responsibly
  • Sitting in your ticketed seat or GA area (if applicable)
  • Ensuring that your signs and banners are inoffensive
  • Ensuring that you do not block another fan’s view of the game

Concessions
 
UBC sporting venues have concession items available for most gated events.
  • All concession areas will be cashless - credit cards and debit cards only will be accepted
  • The following events will have a concession available and no outside food or drinks will be permitted:
    • UBC Thunderbirds Football Games
    • UBC Thunderbirds Hockey Games
  • These events will have a limited concession offering and will allow outside food into the venue:
    • UBC Thunderbirds Basketball Games (liquor service will be available)
    • UBC Thunderbirds Volleyball Games (liquor service will be available)
    • UBC Thunderbirds Soccer Games 
  • Elevated food service will be available at festivals

Doors Open
 
Doors open one-hour prior to an event’s scheduled start time, unless otherwise specified.

Please see the ticketing page or your ticket details to confirm door times for each event.

Elevators
 
Elevators for those that require assistance are located in a number of UBC sporting venues including War Memorial Gym, Thunderbird Arena and Father Bauer Arena. Please approach a member of the UBC Varsity Events team to be directed to an elevator upon arrival on venue.
 
Entrances and Exits
 
For War Memorial Gym, primary entrances are accessed off the North side of the lobby and exits are access through the and South side of the lobby.
 
For Thunderbird Arena, primary entrances are accessed from the Wesbrook Mall (East) side of the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
 
For Father Bauer Arena, primary entrances are accessed from the Thunderbird Blvd (North) side of the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
 
For Thunderbird Stadium, primary entrances are accessed just off of the main Stadium lot on the upper East side of the building.
 
Emergencies & Evacuations
 
In the event of an emergency please defer to the UBC Varsity Events team for direction. Should the emergency require immediate evacuation of the venue, fans will be directed to the nearest emergency exits and to the areas of refuge beyond that.

Family Washrooms
 
Family Washrooms are located in Thunderbird Arena at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Other UBC Sporting venues unfortunately do not have family washrooms.
 
First Aid
 
First Aid is available to all fans upon request. Should you require first aid, please speak with the nearest UBC Varsity Events team member who will dispatch a first aid attendant.
 
Food & Beverage Policy
 
 General Policies:
  • All bags and belongings brought into the venue are subject to search and prohibited items will be confiscated. 
  • Water bottles, and other reusable containers must be emptied prior to entering the arena. Water fountains & re-fill stations are available inside the arena. 
Thunderbird Arena
  • Fans may not bring any outside food or drinks into the venue. Fans are strictly prohibited from bringing outside alcohol inside our venues.  
Thunderbird Stadium
  • Football - Fans may not bring any outside food or drinks into the venue. Fans are strictly prohibited from bringing outside alcohol inside our venues.
  • Soccer - Fans may bring outside food and sealed non-alcoholic drinks into the venue. Fans are strictly prohibited from bringing outside alcohol inside our venues.
  • Soccer - There will be a designated food delivery service pickup and drop-off location by the stadium entrance – food delivery service items must comply with the facility’s food and drink policy
War Memorial Gym & Father Bauer Arena:
  • Fans may bring outside food into the venue. Outside drinks, including outside alcohol are strictly prohibited inside the venue.

Game Day Programs
 
Game day programs are available at our gated events, in both Digital and Hardcopy form. They are a great way to keep an eye on the rest of your UBC Thunderbirds and read up on the week’s match-up.
 
Game Day programs, if available, can be picked up upon entry to a UBC sporting venue.

ID – Alcohol Sales
 
Venue staff work hard to promote safe and responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages. We reserve the right to refuse alcohol service to any guest.
 
Any fan that looks to be under the age of 30 will be required to show valid ID. Fans intending to purchase alcoholic beverages on venue must receive a 19+ wristband prior to purchasing their beverage. Fans seen to be consuming alcohol without a 19+ wristband will be asked to present proof of age and are subject to removal from the venue.
 
Internet / Wi-Fi
 
Free internet / wi-fi access is available to all guests using the ‘ubcvisitor’ network. Accepting UBC’s terms of use and an email is required when logging in.
 
Intoxicated Fans
 
For the safety and comfort of all fans, entry may be denied to any guest that is overtly intoxicated. Intoxicated guests causing disturbances during a game will be asked to leave the venue without refund and may be subject to arrest.

Lost & Found
 
Lost & Found at an event is always centrally located with the box office. Fans who have lost (or found) items during an event may proceed to the box office to claim or register the lost item.

Mascot
 
Thunder the Thunderbird makes appearances throughout the season at a number of UBC Thunderbirds events. Simply flag him down for a picture or autograph.

 
Media Access
 
All media must be accredited in order to enter a UBC Sporting venue. Media credentials can be requested through Jeff Sargeant, Coordinator Media Relations & Communications. Reach out by email at jeff.sargeant@ubc.ca.
 
Merchandise
 
The UBC Thunderbirds are happy to offer merchandise sales at all major events and through the UBC Bookstore during their business hours.
 
Messages
 
The UBC Thunderbirds are happy to honour special milestones including Birthdays and Anniversaries. If you would like an announcement made for a special occasion please contact thunderbirds.marketing@ubc.ca at least 4 business days prior to the event.

Parking
 
Parking is available in close proximity to all the UBC Sporting venues.
 
For events at War Memorial Gym, please park in the University Blvd lot a 2-minute walk from the venue, or North Parkade, a 7-minute walk from venue.
 
For events at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, please park in Thunderbird Parkade, a 2-minute walk from venue.
 
For events at Thunderbird Stadium, please park in the Thunderbird Stadium lot, directly in front of the venue.

Prohibited Items
 
Please be aware that all bags will be subject to inspection upon entry into any UBC sporting venue.
 
The following items are prohibited:
  • Outside Alcohol
  • Laser pointers
  • Weapons of any kind, including knives
  • Illegal drugs or noxious substances
  • Electrically/ non-human powered noise makers (ie. air horns, megaphones) and whistles 
  • Spray cans or aerosols
  • Projectiles, fireworks & drones 
  • Outside Food and Beverage (see food and beverage info section)
  • All other items deemed inappropriate for entry
 
Fans in possession of any of these items may be denied entry or may be subject to removal. Those denied entry or removed for any violation of fan policy will not be issued a refund.

Searches / Security
 
Please arrive early and allow for time to clear security. For the safety and security of all, fans and their bags, purses, jackets and other possessions may be subject to search prior to gaining admission. All fans are subject to pat-down searches by designated security personnel. Fans who refuse to submit to either a visual or pat-down search may be denied entry.
 
For your safety and convenience, security personnel are stationed throughout UBC Sporting venues. If you have an emergency, please notify the nearest UBC Varsity Events team member immediately.
 
Smoking
 
All UBC Sporting venues are smoke-free environments, and smoking any substance (including e-cigarettes) is strictly prohibited. For those venues that have extended fence lines, this policy extends to any area encompassed by the fence.
 
Fans seen to be smoking on-venue may be asked to vacate the premises without refund.
 
Solicitation of Literature
 
Anyone without written consent from the UBC Thunderbirds is prohibited from soliciting contributions or distributing literature on University property.
 
Storage
 
UBC Sporting venues do not offer bag or coat check or any form of storage for fans.
 
Strollers

Fans are permitted to bring strollers into any UBC Sporting venue however strollers may not be brought to their seat. UBC Sporting venues are not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen goods from strollers that are left unattended.

Ticketing
 
Ticketing information for regular conference, playoff and festival games can be found at www.gothunderbirds.ca/tickets. Please retain your ticket for inspection upon entry to any UBC Sporting venue and at any time during an event. All ticket holders must sit in their assigned seat (if applicable) and be prepared to show their ticket upon request.

Washrooms
 
Men’s and Women’s washrooms are located in all UBC Sporting venues. Each washroom includes accessible stalls. If you are having difficulty locating a washroom, please ask a UBC Varsity Events team member for assistance.
 
Will Call
 
Public Will Call is located before the main entry gates to all UBC Sporting venues and opens one hour prior to event start. Photo identification may be required for ticket pick-ups.
 
Please note, it is the responsibility of student athletes and coaches to submit will call prior to the posted deadline. No exceptions can be made in circumstances where fan’s names do not appear on the will call list.
