UBC track and field runner John Gay (Kelowna, B.C.) was named the Male Athlete of the Week by the Association of Independent Institutions.

Gay, who was previously honored on March 28, posted the best time in the NAIA this season, taking home the Steve Scott Invitational’s 3,000-meter steeplechase crown. A second-year runner, Gay completed the race with a time of 8:53.38, and he also finished 13th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:52.02.
