Ben Chow helped the UBC Thunderbirds men's volleyball team earn a weekend split against the University of Winnipeg. The third-year outside hitter had 15 kills and seven digs in Friday's five set loss (19-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-17, 15-12).
On Saturday, the 'Birds made quick work of the Wesmen winning in straight sets (25-19, 29-27, 25-21). Chow had nine kills and four digs in the victory.
A native of Surrey, BC Chow has had an outstanding 2013. Not only is he eighth in the conference in kills per set with 3.52, but he is coming off a summer in which he won gold in beach volleyball at the 2013 Canada Summer Games.
The No.4 ranked Thunderbirds will be back in action this weekend when they play host to the University of Calgary for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. First serve is 3:00 pm at War Memorial Gym on both days.
