Fifth-year outside hitter Lisa Barclay led the Thunderbirds women’s volleyball team to a hard earned split with the fifth ranked Trinity Western Spartans this past weekend.

Playing in her final season, Barclay finished with a game high 20 kills and eight digs in Friday night’s five-set victory over the Spartans. Unfortunately, on Saturday Trinity Western swept UBC, but Barclay still led the Thunderbirds with nine kills and 11 digs.

Finally healthy after missing the bulk of the season due to illness and injury, the Brandon, MB native is averaging 3.48 kills per set in six regular season games this season.

UBC sits in sixth place in the Canada West with a record of 10-10. They are in a battle for a playoff spot with just two weekends remaining in the regular season.

Barclay and the Thunderbirds will hit the road this weekend to take on the University of Calgary (12-10) before wrapping up the season at home against Regina (6-14).
