Hannah Haughn notched a hat-trick in the UBC Thunderbirds women’s rugby team’s 5-3 win over the Calgary Dinos on Sunday in the team’s regular season finale.
 
Haughn’s first marker came in the ninth minute, after Calgary had already drawn first blood, as her hard shot from the top of the scoring circle found the back of the net. Haughn scored the eventual game-winning goal, and her second of the afternoon, in the 50th minute. Then, Haughn capped off the game’s scoring in the 67th minute, finishing off a nice give-and-go with Sophie Jones with a quick strike from in close.
 
Though she didn’t get on the scoreboard in the two teams’ previous match, Haughn’s intelligence and defensive acumen was instrumental in UBC ‘s 3-0 win over the Dinos on Saturday, which secured the Thunderbirds’ place in the CIS women’s field hockey national championship, which will run from Nov. 5-8 in Victoria.
