Winnie Hyun and the UBC Thunderbirds women’s golf team won a sixth straight Association of Independent Institutions Conference Championship at this week’s tournament in Victoria Texas. 

UBC won the 36-hole event by two strokes over California State University - San Marcos. With the victory, the Thunderbirds earn an automatic berth to the 2015 NAIA Women’s Golf Championship May 12-15 at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Georgia.

Hyun, a second-year player from Langley, BC, finished second overall individually at even par after rounds of 74 and 70, just one shot behind the winner.

Last season she was named an NAIA All-American and this year has helped the Thunderbirds to four tournament victories.
