After missing the entire pre-season due to injury, Samantha Langford stepped into the Thunderbirds line up on Saturday and stopped all 16 shots she faced to earn the shutout and help the UBC women's hockey team defeat the defending Canada West Champions from Saskatchewan 2-0.

A fourth-year player from Pense, Saskatchewan, Langford is hoping for a bounce back season after playing just five games last season.

Ranked No.5 in the CIS, Langford and the Thunderbirds are 1-0-1 after the opening weekend and head to Calgary this weekend for a pair of games against Mount Royal University.
