Taylor Shannik scored a goal in a pair of tough losses for the UBC Thunderbirds women's soccer team on the opening weekend of the 2014 Canada West regular season.

The fourth-year midfielder scored the Thunderbirds lone goal in the first minute of the second half Friday night against Victoria to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Vikes would score the game winner in the 77th minute to defeat UBC 2-1.

On Sunday Shannik and the Thunderbirds lost 1-0 to the University of Fraser Valley.

This weekend is Homecoming 2014 and the Thunderbirds will host the UNBC Timberwolves for a pair of games, Saturday September 13 at 12:00 pm at Varsity Field and Sunday September 14 at 12:00 pm at Thunderbird Stadium.
