The UBC Men's Rowing team took to the waters of the historic Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts Sunday to compete against some of the best rowers and university programs from around the globe as part of the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. The UBC Men finished seventh in the Lightweight Men's 4+ and 24th in the Championships Men's 8+. The Head of the Charles is the world's largest three-day regatta with time-trial races over a three-mile course down the Charles River in 73 different race categories over the three days.
The UBC Lightweight Men's won this event in 2022 and finished third in 2023. The Thunderbirds finished with a time of 16:36.52, 0:25.42 seconds off the winners for the University of Pennsylvania.
In the Championship Eights, the UBC men finished 24th overall with a time of 14:35.121. Cambridge University of the U.K. won, with a time of 13:46.333. The race also featured the Olympic gold and silver Olympic medallists from Croatia and GB teaming up with other world rowing stars, finishing 12th. UBC's highest-ever finish in the Charles Championship 8+ was 14th in 2022.

UBC Rowing will now travel home and prepare to compete at the Head of the Gorge this coming weekend, Saturday October, 26 and Sunday October 27 in Victoria.
