VICTORIA B.C. - The Thunderbirds women's rowing team traveled to Elk Lake this past weekend to race the University of Victoria Vikes at the Elk Lake Spring Regatta, the first regatta to open the spring season. UBC bested their counter parts from UVIC winning four of the five events they raced. Gold came in the open pair, straight four, coxed four, and eight. 

"After a long winter of training it was great to get back out on the race course and test our speed," stated a very pleased UBC head coach Craig Pond, following the event. "Although a lot can happen over the next five-weeks this was a good indication that we are on the right track in our preparation for Brown Cup on April 6th."

Next weekend the women's crews will head south to Seattle to race the University of Washington and Oregon State at the Husky Open.
