Over the past century, UBC Rowing has established itself as one of the most successful varsity programs in Canada. Our vision for the next century is bold: to attract even more of Canada’s best and brightest students to UBC and provide them with the support they require to optimize their efforts and propel both the men’s and women’s programs into the top echelons of university rowing worldwide. To support this new vision, the Gold for Life Committee and UBC Rowing, in partnership with UBC Athletics and Recreation, launched the UBC Rowing Centennial Campaign.
The measures of success will be two-fold: First, a widened scope of annual competition in the most prestigious regattas and consistent success among the top 12 university rowing programs worldwide. Second, a measurable increase in the number of graduates who distinguish themselves, both athletically and academically, and ultimately make long-term contributions as leaders in the community in which they serve.
The goal is to increase the UBC Rowing endowments by $5 million and raise an additional $1 million to augment the existing annual operational funds that are required to support our three strategic objectives and optimize the student athlete experience:
-
Student-Athlete Financial Support
-
International Competition
-
Cutting-Edge Equipment
Thank you for considering a gift to support the program’s advancement. When you give to student-athletes, you are shaping their university experience and investing in the young leaders of tomorrow. Join us as we enter into the next century of rowing at UBC.

Three Ways You Can Get Involved
Ongoing Operations: Elevating the Student-Athlete Experience
Gifts to fund ongoing operational priorities – including new shells or travel to major international competitions – are highly valued by the program and staff. Our coaches and development staff will work with you to identify the greatest needs and how your support can make an impact.

Endowments: The Lasting, Perpetual Gift
Endowments are an integral part of our overall funding. Endowed gifts are invested, with the annual generated income used to fund UBC Rowing. This means that your principal gift continues to grow over time and generate a steady, reliable source of income in perpetuity for our program. Having the consistency and reliability of these gifts allows our coaches to plan for the future for scholarships and awards, travel, recruiting and equipment. Gifts can be made to existing UBC Rowing endowments, or the establishment of a new endowment in support of UBC Rowing.

Legacy Giving: A Gift for the Future
Leaving a gift to UBC Rowing in your will — or through other planned giving options — is a thoughtful way to make a lasting impact. Gifts such as bequests, annuities, or other kinds of planned giving allow you to support future generations of students-athletes at UBC.
