Bryan Tyrer helped the UBC Thunderbirds men’s rugby team retain the World Cup for a second straight year this past weekend.

The fourth-year Arts student from Richmond, BC scored 11 points, including a try in the Thunderbirds heartbreaking 23-21 loss to the University of California this past weekend. However, UBC won the two-game series on aggregate 40-29 to retain the cup. The Thunderbirds previously defeated Cal 19-6 at Berkeley earlier this year.

The men’s rugby team currently sits in second place in the BC Rugby CDI Premier League behind the University of Victoria with three games remaining in their regular season schedule.

This weekend they will play the Vancouver Rowing Club on Saturday, March 28 at the Brockton Oval.
