Goaltending Coach

Pasco Valana is entering his 29th season coaching goaltenders and 11th season with the four-time Canada West Champion UBC Thunderbirds women's team.

As a highly experienced, professional goaltending coach Pasco has worked on both the Men's and Women's sides of the game, producing some of the most notable goaltenders in the game. Pasco's company, Elite Goalies, is North America's premier development program and goaltending academy.

On the international stage, Valana has worked in the National Program for Canada since 2010 and has mentored goaltenders who defended the net for seven different nations. Valana is a member of Hockey Canada's National Goaltending Advisory Board and certifies coaches throughout Canada.

Valana has an High Performance Level 2 professional coaching certification and is a Level 3 Master Goaltending Coach for Canada and has been an Assistant coach in Junior B, Junior A and now with the UBC Thunderbirds.

Pasco focuses on serving Head Coach Graham Thomas and Assistant Coach Michael Sommer by complimenting the Thunderbird defencemen by customizing a goaltending system that is in sync with Coach Sommer's system. Valana's role also includes identifying key tendencies of the opposition and their goaltenders to produce goal scoring production.
