Alumni - Women's Hockey

Welcome home!

As a UBC Thunderbirds student-athlete, you were part of making the University of British Columbia the winningest university athletic program in Canada. We have celebrated over 100 years of athletic excellence and our alumni have made incredible contributions both on and off ice.

While the majority of our alumni can be found in the Greater Vancouver area, there is a vast network of Thunderbirds living and working around the world. As alumni, we are committed to keeping you engaged with the UBC Hockey program. Whether it is connecting you with your former teammates, attending a game at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, or just showing your Thunderbird pride, we are here to help.

Thunderbird Women’s Hockey Alumni Award

‘Members of the UBC Women’s Hockey Alumni established the 'Thunderbird Women’s Hockey Alumni Award’ to recognize outstanding individuals on the UBC Women’s Hockey team.  Awards are offered to current student-athletes of the UBC Women's Ice Hockey team in any year of study. They are made on the recommendation of the Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach and the Women's Ice Hockey alumni group, and administered by the Athletics Awards Committee. Your one-time gift or ongoing monthly contribution will ensure our student-athletes can achieve their goals both on the ice and in the classroom.

UBC Old Birds

Our alumni network includes the UBC Old Birds - a group of “old-timer” recreational hockey players consisting of retired UBC faculty, staff, alumni and friends. They have been playing friendly games among themselves at UBC on Monday afternoons for more than 30 years followed by a “fourth” period social and discussion hour. Their interest in the UBC Women’s Hockey Team began in the 1990’s when two of their members had daughters on the team.

Old Birds
