Ilona Markova, Elise Hugens vs MAN, CW Final Game 2, March 7, 2026

The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Women’s Hockey program has cemented its reputation as a Canada West powerhouse and one of the top programs in U SPORTS. This legacy includes seven Canada West Championships and three U SPORTS National Championship medals. Today, the team is united and focused on bringing home the program’s first-ever U SPORTS Gold Medal.

You Make It Happen

Your generosity helps provide student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed – in competition, in the classroom, and beyond. Philanthropic support enhances key program priorities, including expert coaching, equipment, performance analysis, and recruiting support that helps attract and retain top talent.

By investing in UBC Women’s Hockey, you are strengthening the foundation of a championship-calibre program, empowering student-athletes to reach their full potential, and helping build a lasting legacy for future generations of Thunderbirds.

Powering Champions In and Out of the Classroom

Thunderbird student-athletes have long been a source of pride for UBC, demonstrating excellence in the classroom, in competition, and in their communities. Their success is made possible through the support of alumni, families, fans, and donors who believe in the transformative power of sport and education.

By giving today, you help create opportunities for student-athletes to pursue their academic goals, reach their athletic potential, and represent UBC with pride.

About the UBC Old Birds
The Old Birds is a group of “old-timer” recreational hockey players consisting of retired UBC faculty, staff, alumni and friends. They have been playing friendly games among themselves at UBC on Monday afternoons for more than 30 years followed by a “fourth” period social and discussion hour. Their interest in the UBC Women’s Hockey Team began in the 1990’s when two of their members had daughters on the team.

The group supports student-athlete awards as well as the purchase of tables for the annual KPMG Thunderbird Scholarship Breakfast and direct financial donations to the team to help with travel, equipment and various special projects.
