DETROIT – The most decorated UBC women's hockey player in program history made yet more waves Wednesday night as Grace Elliott was selected 38th overall by the Seattle Torrent in the 2026 PWHL Draft.
Taking place in Detroit, the Torrent used their fourth round pick to take the White Rock, B.C. forward who now has the opportunity to join T-Birds alumna Rylind MacKinnon in the world's premiere women's professional league.
Continuing her notoriety for breaking records and raising the bar ever higher, Elliott's 38th overall selection makes her the highest ever Canada West pick as well as the first of only two U SPORTS selections of the 2026 Draft.
Following in the footsteps of her former teammate,
Chanreet Bassi, who was selected by Vancouver in the sixth round of last year's draft, Elliott becomes the seventh ever U SPORTS product selected and the second highest chosen, behind only Concordia's Emmy Fecteau who was taken 31
st overall in 2024.
Closing out her Thunderbirds career with back-to-back Canada West Women's Hockey Player of the Year awards, Elliott became UBC's first ever U SPORTS Player of the Year recipient in 2025. Almost single-handedly rewriting the program record book, the new Torrent prospect led the conference in points in her final two years and closed out her five-year T-Birds career as the program leader in goals, points and plus-minus.

Elliott also set a new Canada West career game winning goals record of 25, eclipsing Canadian hockey legend Hayley Wickenheiser's previous mark of 20. 12 of her 24 goals in 2025-26 served as game winners, also setting a new single-season high water mark.
A four-time Canada West champion and a U SPORTS bronze medallist, Elliott's combination of skill, size and smarts has her set up well to compete for a roster spot this fall and begin her professional career.
