VANCOUVER – Canada West Women's Hockey returns for the 2022-23 season on Friday, September 30 as the UBC Thunderbirds open up the new campaign on the road against the Calgary Dinos.
Releasing the entire conference schedule Wednesday, the Canada West announced a return to a full 28-game regular season.
The defending conference champion T-Birds will host the Manitoba Bisons for their home opener on Friday, October 7 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
UBC will face each of their eight conference opponents nine times throughout the course of the season, save for the Mount Royal Cougars and Alberta Pandas who they'll meet only twice each.
Other key dates on the home calendar include a rematch of the 2022 Canada West Final against the Saskatchewan Huskies January 13 and 14, and a home-and-home series with the Trinity Western Spartans February 3 and 4.
The 'Birds will close out the regular season in Regina February 10 and 11.
Canada West playoffs will once again see six of the nine teams participate with the top two seeds earning a bye to the semifinals. Quarter-final series will take place February 17-19 with best-of-three semifinals the following weekend.
The Canada West Final series will go down March 3-5 with the U SPORTS National Championship beginning March 16 in Montreal.
