VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds rowing program made history Sunday by sweeping both the men's and women's team titles at the Canadian University Rowing Championships, hosted this weekend by Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont., for the first time.
Â
UBC won the men's competition for the third straight time and the fourth in five years. It is the school's fifth title overall (2018, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2005). The T-Birds finished with 100 points, 14 more than Western, and 18 more than Victoria.
Mike Pearce was named the Canadian University Rowing Association's Men's Coach of the Year.
