VANCOUVER – An in-form UBC Thunderbirds women's basketball team, ranked third in Canada, will host the Calgary Dinos this weekend at War Memorial Gym.

UBC (11-3) is tied for first place in the Canada West Pioneer Division standings, level with the Saskatchewan Huskies.

Since the beginning of 2015, the 'Birds have been playing some very impressive basketball. They are coming off a sweep of Trinity Western last weekend.

UBC is looking to extend its six-game winning streak. Over that span, the team has scored an average of 81.7 points a game, while giving up just 51.8.

The Thunderbirds are still counting on Kris Young (17 points per game) and Harleen Sidhu (14.1 point per game) to make the difference on the offensive end. The duo has been solid in rebounding as well, grabbing 13.7 boards per game between them. Point guard Diana Lee led UBC in scoring on Friday night at Trinity Western with 20 points, her best output offensively this season, her first with the T-Birds.

The Dinos (9-6) sit fifth in the league standings and are a solid bet to make the postseason. Calgary is 3-1 since the beginning of the year and split an intense match-up last weekend against Victoria.
  
The Dinos don't have an obvious team superstar, but rather a collection of good players.  The scoring stats reflect that as senior guard Claire Calborne leads the roster with 9.6 points per game, while sophomore forward Kelsey Lund has 8.8 and Brianne Ghali has 7.1.

A tough schedule awaits Calgary in the final weeks of the regular season. After the two UBC games, they will face Alberta and Saskatchewan, two of the best teams in the conference.

The 'Birds have series against third-place Regina and last-place Manitoba remaining on their slate after this weekend's matchups against the Dinos, which will be played at 6 p.m. on Friday, and 5 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will take place at War Memorial Gym.
