The first two games of a four-game Minnesota road trip have proven quite the challenge for the UBC women's hockey team, whose record now stands at 0-2-0 this weekend. Following a tough loss on Friday to the University of Minnesota, the two-time defending NCAA champions, the Thunderbirds lost to St. Cloud State 3-0 Â Saturday evening.

The Thunderbirds went 0-for-5 on powerplay, unable to capitalize on the man-advantages and surrendering one short-handed goal late in the third.

Danielle Dube made 35 saves.

UBC was able to hold off the Huskies until 17:25 into the first period when St. Cloud opened the scoring. It would prove to be the game winning goal. St. Cloud would a goal in the two and another in the third period to round out the scoring.

Tatiana Rafter led the game in face-off wins, having won 11 of 16.

Next up for UBC's marathon weekend of hockey in Minnesota is a showdown with the Japanese national team who are preparing for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
