Vancouver, BC - Former UBC Thunderbirds women's hockey head coach Nancy Wilson is one of six new inductees into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame. Wilson is the first ever woman to be inducted into the hall.

Wilson has an extensive background in hockey. She was captain of the University of Western Ontario and later played with Vancouver Senior Teams before embarking on an impressive coaching career. Wilson is a former Head Coach of the UBC Thunderbirds, BC Breakers, Vancouver Griffins, Team BC at the Canada Winter Games and was an Assistant Coach with Canada's Women's Team at the Four Nations Cup and World Championships. Nancy is Owner and lead instructor for the Centre-Ice Female Hockey School and is currently a mentor coach with Team Kazakhstan Women's Hockey team.

She spent six years with the Thunderbirds, three as an assistant coach (2005-08) and three as the head coach (2008-2011). Wilson compiled a record of 26-46-3 over her three seasons at the helm of the program.

Other inductees in the class of 2013 include former NHL players Mark Recchi, Paul Kariya, Colin Patterson, one time Vancouver Canucks player and head coach Marc Crawford, and the back to back Memorial Cup Champion Kamloops Blazers teams from 1994 and 1995.

The 2013 BC Hockey Hall of Fame induction will be held in Penticton, BC on Friday July 26th at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
