VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds women's hockey team – ranked sixth in CIS – will come face-to-face with another nationally-ranked squad this weekend in a two-game series with the No. 8 University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

In Canada West conference standings, UBC and Saskatchewan share the top spot with identical 7-2-1 records. The two teams are also tied for the league lead in goals scored with 29 over 10 games.
 
Before the long-weekend break, the Huskies reigned over Calgary with two wins, hammering the Dinos 5-1 and 5-0 in Saskatoon.
 
The Thunderbirds will fight to keep their five-game winning streak rolling after sweeping two consecutive weekends versus Alberta and Mount Royal.
 
Among the Canada West Top 10 scorers, Saskatchewan is led by Cami Wooster (third), rookie Kaitlin Willoughby (eighth), and Sara Greschner (ninth) but the 'Birds boast 
Tatiana Rafter (first) and 
Sarah Casorso (fifth) and 
Nicole Saxvik (sixth).
The games will be played at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, where the 'Birds are 3-0-1, on Friday and Saturday. The puck drop on both nights is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night's game will also be broadcast live on CiTR-FM 101.9.
