The #8 ranked UBC Thunderbirds women's hockey team is back on the road this weekend as they pay a visit to the prairies where they will confront the #5 ranked University of Regina Cougars.

The last time UBC faced off against the Cougars was in the Canada West semifinal last season when the Thunderbirds completed a series comeback and advanced to the conference finals with a 7-1 game three victory over the Regina.

However Regina is already making their presence known this season, having started the season on a four-game winning streak after defeating Canada West opponents Calgary and Lethbridge.

Last weekend, the 'Birds split their two game series with one win and one overtime loss to the Calgary Dinos, and overall UBC's record stands at 2-1-1 in the regular season.

UBC boasts the top two leading scorers in the Canada West through two weeks of the season.
Sarah Casorso holds the top spot with one goal and seven assists on the season, while
Tatiana Rafter sits in second with a league leading four goals to go along with two assists. Rafter is tied with Regina's Meghan Sherven for the league lead in goals.Â

Puck drop is at 5:00 pm (PST) on both Friday and Saturday in Regina.
