VICTORIA – Day 1 and 2 of racing on Victoria's Elk Lake in breezy conditions was solid for up-and-coming UBC athletes looking to make their presence felt with the national program.
Four UBC crews advanced to the six-boat A Finals with a chance of winning $20,000 worth of prize money Sunday.
"It's great to see just how competitive our men and women are here. These athletes represent the next level of talent for the national team and its really exciting to see our Thunderbirds athletes jockey for positions against the best in the country," said UBC men's coach

RESULTS
In preliminary racing leading to finals, Thunderbird lightweight pair
Evan Cheng and
Maxwell Lattimer won their heat and advanced to the A Final.

Alex Janzen finished a competitive third on the heels of RCA's top Senior A entry, while
Valentin Dunsing, in the lightweight single, advanced to the A.
Angus Todd, in the lightweight single, will race in the B final.
On the women's side,
Katherine Enns, Female Athlete of the Year at the Canadian University Rowing Championships, advanced out of the lightweight single semi final with a second-place finish to win a berth in the A final.
Zoe Fettig-Winn, who teamed up with Victoria rower Becca Zimmerman in the heavy pair, will race in the B final.
Jocelyn Plant and Jannelle Mackoff in lightweight singles will race in the C final
Both Lattimer and Janzen are new to the T-Birds and had to redshirt at the University Championships and they are demonstrating their value to the program going forward. Janzen is also a product of RCA / UBC Talent ID program led by Ben Rutledge.
