SACRAMENTO - The UBC Thunderbirds Men's Rowing squad are flying in Sacramento (Rancho Cordova) for a historic, high-stakes battle at the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) Championship Sunday May 17 with the first race beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT. This isn't just another regatta— UBC Rowing is making history as the first ever program in any sport to enter MPSF from outside the United States, the T-Birds are stepping into the arena against some of the fastest, most elite university programs to ever sit in a shell.

The Field & The Stakes
UBC is pulling onto the stakeboats to face absolute titans. Depending on which poll you look at, the University of Washington and Cal-Berkeley lock down the #1 and #2 spots globally, with Stanford striking hard as high as #6.

To put the raw speed of this field into perspective: UW recently stunned the rowing world at Opening Day, defeating the British National Team in a blistering time of 5:29. The Thunderbirds are motivated and ready to embrace the challenge with the opportunity to race in a high-profile arena like this. Never in our program's history have we had three men's eights moving as fast.

The whole event is packed into one hour of racing with crews seeded into Grand Finals Sunday morning between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM PT.
