WINNIPEG -
Alex Vieweg led a trio of UBC Thunderbirds in double figures with 17 points as the visiting T-Birds downed the Manitoba Bisons 66-55 on Saturday night to complete the weekend sweep.
Devan Lisson and
Lia St. Pierre joined Vieweg with more than 10 points, finishing with 16 and 12 respectively.
It was all UBC in the first half, which was the difference as the hosts managed to out score the T-Birds in the second 20 minutes. UBC scored 40 points in the first half, 20 in each quarter, to lead by 14 and never look back.
UBC jumped out to a 10-2 lead, getting baskets from four different players as they once again showed their team depth. Nine players scored points for the 'Birds on the night after 12 hit the scoresheet in their 73-37 win on Friday.
In the second half, UBC's offensive efficiency wasn't as solid as the first six quarters of the weekend. They were only 9-of-27 (33.3%) over the last 20 minutes. Despite their offensive cooldown, UBC was still able to hold the Bisons to limited success and never saw their lead drop below double digits after the break.
The T-Birds are at home next weekend against the Calgary Dinos. It's just one of two home weekends in the second half of the 2010-11 for UBC.
