VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds are scheduled to take to the ice for an exhibition game against the Seibu Princess Rabbits at Father Bauer Arena this Sunday, November 22, at 12:15 p.m.
The visitors feature a large contingent of players from the Japanese national team and should give the T-Birds a stiff test.
The Rabbits' roster includes 21 players with international experience for Japan, including six players that competed at the most recent World Championships. They have a strong mix of youth as well on the roster, with eight of their players having competed at either the 2007 or 2009 U18 Women's World Championships.
The most decorated player on the Rabbits roster is defenceman Yoko Kondo who played at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. She has also been a member of every Japanese team at the World Championships since 1999.
There is also one Canadian born player on the team in forward Kelston Clare McGauley.
The T-Birds, who are coming off their best weekend of the season with two straight wins over no. 8 ranked Saskatchewan, will be using the game to stay sharp during their second bye weekend of the season.
UBC currently sports a record of 3-6-1 and sits fourth in the league standings. Next weekend they host the Regina Cougars in the final weekend of the 2009 portion of their schedule.
