Lisa Barclay was named the CIS Player of the Year in women's volleyball while leading the UBC Thunderbirds to a second place finish at the CIS National Championships this past weekend in Regina, SK. She was also named a First-Team All-Canadian for the second straight year.
A native of Brandon, MB, Barclay led the entire country in kills per set (4.26) and points per set (4.99). Her points per set average was the highest in Canada West league play in seven seasons.Â
This weekend she was named to the CIS ChampionshipTournament All-Star team, helping the Thunderbirds to a second place finish, as they lost in the final to Manitoba.
A 4th year Kinesiology student, Barclay is also a mainstay on Canada's national senior team, having represented her country in various events including the Pan American Cup and the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia.
