University of British Columbia's Maria Bernard have earned top honors in the Association of Independent Institutions Conference this week as Bernard has been named Female Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 3-10. 

Bernard, a junior from Calgary, captured individual honours Saturday at the A.I.I. Women's Cross Country Championships. Bernard posted a time of 17 minutes, 10.4 seconds in the five-kilometer race in helping lead the Thunderbirds to back-to-back conference championships. 

It was the second time for Bernard to receive the weekly honour this year.
