Glen has been involved with the sport of rugby for the better part of his life, and has had the opportunity to live and play in some of the top rugby nations in the world. Rugby has not only provided him with an excellent career path, it has become its own community, or family if you will.
Â
In his pursuit of rugby knowledge, he was fortunate to play in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK, having played at the elite club level in all of these countries including a short professional career. His playing experience has extended to provincial and representative rugby in both Canada and New Zealand.
Â
His education in coaching has also predominantly been based in New Zealand with the elite IRANZ training program. Glen currently holds NCCP level 2 in addition to his IRANZ qualifications. His transition to coaching, he is proud to say, has provided more fulfillment than that of his successful playing career. To date, he has been involved with club, provincial, high school and academy programs.
His current role with the UBC Women’s Rugby Program as an assistant coach encompasses work with the Varsity Program, Academy Program as well as a role in the recruitment of talent.
Â
Glen’s approach to coaching is focused on the potential of the athlete and growth of the program, through defining a strong culture within the team and focusing on core values that not only make for respected athletes but also respected members of the community. He is tenacious and passionate about seeking opportunities for student-athletes and about growing the sport of Women’s rugby.
