Craig Pond has been involved in the sport of rowing for over 20 years both as an athlete and coach. In 1999, Pond accepted the role as head women's coach at UBC. Since taking over the women's program, Pond has led the team to several Provincial Championships, Henley Golds, Western Canadian University Championships, National Championship titles, and three Canadian University Rowing Championships (2004, 2018, 2019).

Pond has developed several athletes, many of whom started as novice rowers the UBC program, to the Canadian National Team. These athletes have gone on to win medals at the U23 World Championships, Senior World Championships, and the Olympics.

As a NCCP certified coach, Pond has been awarded the Canadian University Coach of the year six times (2005, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018). On top of his duties at UBC, Pond has also served as the Head Provincial Team Coach for BC.
