Robin D'Abreo enters his second season as head coach of the women's field hockey program.
After replacing Hash Kanjee in 2014, who retired from UBC this year after 21 years as the head coach, D'Abreo put his stamp on the squad, guiding the Thunderbirds to their fourth straight CIS national championship, despite a significant change in the team's core group.
He also coached UBC to the Canada West league championship in his first season, going 5-1-2 in regular season play and 2-1-1 at the CIS tournament.
Before UBC, D'Abreo most recently was the assistant coach for the Canadian senior women's national team.
A graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science, D'Abreo played 237 games for the Canadian senior men's national team over 13 years including competing at the Olympic Games (2000), World Cup (1998), and Commonwealth Games (1998, 2002, 2006).
Currently working toward his level 4 coaching certification, his coaching career began while he was still playing. First working with Field Hockey BC before joining Field Hockey Canada. He held a number of roles with the FHC including head coach of the men's senior national team, assistant coach for the women's senior national team, Director of sport development, and head coach of the women's U17 national team. He will remain on with Field Hockey Canada as a program coach.
