VANCOUVER – The battle lines have been drawn for a showdown between two bitter Canada West rivals as the UBC Thunderbirds get set to host the Calgary Dinos this Friday, September 19 for Homecoming 2025 – presented by FIZZ Mobile.
Once again, the biggest UBC Athletics event of the entire year is set to go down under the Friday night lights at Thunderbird Stadium. The big game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. but the festivities begin much earlier, starting with the legendary Trek which departs the Nest at 3:30.
On the Stadium grounds will be a full-on party zone full of food, refreshments, games and prizes. FIZZ Mobile will also be giving away a Samsung phone and tickets to the PNE's Fright Night at Halftime.
Lululemon will be on hand with fun options for all including a sports day relay, lawn games, trivia and a photobooth.
In a true celebration of sport, the BC Lions, Whitecaps FC and Rise FC will all be there with games and prizes of their own.
The UBC Bookstore will also be set up with gameday merchandise for sale, while United Way, UBC Student Alumni Council and Fresh Prep will also be offering fun activities and giveaways.
Bringing together students, alumni, fans and partners from across campus and beyond, Homecoming 2025 will truly be a celebration of the Thunderbird community.
On the field, the T-Birds will battle one of their longest standing nemeses in the Calgary Dinos who head to Vancouver as winners of their last two games.
The T-Birds, meanwhile, are hungry to get back in the win column after a homefield loss to the first place Regina Rams last Friday. This will be the first Homecoming matchup against the Dinos since 2019, an overdue featured contest between the bitter rivals.
Thunderbird Stadium has been the place the be on campus so far this season with UBC's first two home games averaging more than 4000 fans. Friday night's Homecoming game can expect a capacity crowd of 7500.
