KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Consistency was the theme of the day in round three of the 2025 Canadian University/College Championship. Neither the men's or women's teams wearing the blue and gold of UBC allowed their opponents to get any closer to them, both holding double-digit shot leads heading into the final round.
The Thunderbird women became the first team at this year's tournament, male or female, to have multiple rounds shooting under par as a collective. Today's great score was powered by
Jessica Ng, who after recording a 77 (+5) on the first day has since tallied a 73 (+1) on Wednesday and a 69 (-3) on Thursday. That last score is tied with teammate
Una Chou's second round performance for the lowest single-day mark on the women's side this week.
Chou remains at the top of the individual leaderboard, holding a -3 score through three days. That's one stroke ahead of UBC Okanagan's Julia Alexander-Carew (-2), and four ahead of
Grace Bell (+1) who remains in third, just ahead of Ng (+3).
Bo Brown (+6) rounds out the UBC quartet and is tied for fifth place.
That all-around effort gives the T-Birds a 17-stroke advantage over the second-place Heat, a commanding lead heading into the final day.
The men, meanwhile, lead by 12 strokes over their closest competition following another solid showing out on the course. For the third straight day a different Thunderbird had the team's best score of the round, as this time it was
John Paul Kahlert with a 71 (-1). That moves him into a tie for 10th place on the individual board, three strokes back of
Aidan Schumer (-4) who remains the top UBC scorer.
The individual lead, however, belongs to Windsor's Alek Mauro who absolutely tore up the course on Thursday with a 66 (-6), the best single-round tally of anyone at the tournament. Mauro now sits six shots clear in first place, although his team missed the cut for the final round of the tournament so he will play on alone for the final day.
Rounding out the T-Birds' squad are
Hudson LaFayette (T10, -1),
Dylan MacDonald (T18, +3) and
Mackenzie Bickell (T27, +6). They'll aim to win another banner tomorrow when they take to Rivershore Golf Links for the final time.
