MILWAUKIE, Ore. – The UBC Thunderbirds (21-9, 16-3) won both halves of their Saturday doubleheader, taking their first ever conference games against the Warner Pacific University Knights (7-17, 6-13) by scores 12-0 and 8-4. The Knights are a new addition to Cascade Collegiate Conference baseball this season.
Game one
Game one was the Thunderbirds all the way, as they scored in every inning but three over the course of their 12-0 victory.
Mitchell Middlemiss had the strongest day among several T-Birds' standouts, slugging his fifth homerun of the season as part of a three-hit, four-RBI effort. Five other 'Birds crushed doubles in the dominant offensive effort, including two from
Kaden Zarowny.
Will Anderson continued to cement his status as high-end ace by twirling six shutout innings en route to taking his third win of the year.
Game two
In game two, the T-Birds reversed their offensive pattern, with three multi-run innings carrying them to the 8-4 win.
Trent Lenihan was outstanding for UBC, blasting two homeruns to reach a team-leading total of 10 on the year. Hitting ahead of him,
Aaron Marsh posted a full stat line with three hits, two rbi, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Ryan Beitel delivered a quality start on the mound while earning his third win, giving up two runs and striking out eight batters over six innings.
