'Birds Complete Road Sweep of Warner Pacific Saturday Down South

West Linn, Ore - The UBC Thunderbirds (18-9, 11-6) completed their perfect week of play with a 13-4 road victory Saturday afternoon against the Warner Pacific Knights. The back-end (non-conference) portion of the scheduled double-header was cancelled due to heavy rain and wind.

Game 1

Shae Sever's torrid week continued for UBC. Offensively she finished Saturday's contest three-for-four with a homerun and five RBI and a single short of the cycle. On the hill she tossed a scoreless inning of relief while striking out three. She's now gone 12 for her last 18 during the course of UBC's five-game winning streak. Adding to the onslaught Saturday was Keona Nordquist who chimed in with three more hits and a pair of runs scored. Kaitlyn Eng and Caitlin Bradley-Tse each had multi-hit games to their credit as well. Shelby Kempel earned the win for UBC as she threw three scoreless innings of one-hit ball.

The Knights bats lit up in the fourth inning with five hits resulting in four runs. The rally started with a Sammie Brauckmiller double to right center. Jessie Ramirez then advanced Brauckmiller to second on a fielder's choice to the Thunderbirds pitcher. Freshman, Jovita Laloulu, brought Brauckmiller in with a ringing single into center field. The Knights then proceeded to load the bases with a Kasside Bukoski walk, and an Ashley Hawkins single to center field. With two outs, pinch-hitter Marin Bliss, singled to center driving inLaloulu. Emma Foster then hit yet another single to drive in Hawkins and Bukoski. Unfortunately, on the single, Emma was caught in a rundown between first and second and got tagged out. Good thing was that the out was recorded after the two runs had scored so she still got credited with a base hit and two RBIs on the play.

The 'Birds have now secured five consecutive wins, and their 11-6 conference record has them tied for fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings. Up next for UBC - A four-game home stand against Corban University beginning Thursday at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Collings Field.
