'Birds Wrap Up Weekend With A Narrow Setback to the College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho - Ben Gaff had himself quite the game on Sunday as the College of Idaho baseball team would go on to complete the weekend sweep of British Columbia, winning the finale by a score of 12-9.

Gaff would lead the way in hits with four while also driving in four runs. His four runs are tied for a career high, while his four hits set a new career high. Gaff would finish 4-5 on the day. The Yotes also saw multiple hit performances from Jonah Hultberg, Skyler Sadora, and Alex McFarland-Smith. Sadora would also finish with four RBI's to pace the Yotes offense.

McFarland-Smith got the scoring started with an RBI single to right center field in the first inning, which scored Jonah Hultberg. UBC would answer with a pair of runs in the third on an Aaron Marsh double and a Mike Fitzsimmons single, as the Thunderbirds would take a 2-1 lead after three innings.

The third inning was where the Yotes recorded a bulk of their offense, scoring six runs in the inning. Sadora and McFarland-Smith recorded back-to-back RBI singles to give the Yotes a one run lead. Gaff drove in the first two of his RBI's on the day on a single to left center field. Kris Kirkpatrick answered with a two-RBI double of his own to round out the scoring in the third inning. The Thunderbirds would claw back, getting to within a run in the sixth after a two-RBI single from Cameron Sanderson and a Noah Or RBI single.
