SASKATOON, Sask. – Less than 24 hours after securing a thrilling victory over the host Huskies, Saskatchewan flipped the script handing the UBC Thunderbirds a 78-75 loss Saturday night to split the weekend series in Saskatoon.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- Chan De Ciman would put up four back-to-back three-pointers in the first, finishing the quarter leading the scoring with 13 points, shooting 80% in field goals.
- The Huskies would have the most extensive scoring run of the game in the second half of the first quarter, putting up 6 points back-to-back and taking their first lead over the Thunderbirds.
- UBC's Brian Wallack would take the lead in scoring in the third quarter after putting up an additional seven points, 19 in total.
- The Huskies led 63-61 heading into the fourth quarter, and by six points with just over three minutes remaining. The Thunderbirds did not let up, with layups from James Woods bringing the game within two. A three-pointer from De Ciman ended the Thunderbirds comeback and secured the victory for the Huskies.

- Brian Wallack would lead the scoring race, putting up 23 points. Wallack would add seven rebounds for the Thunderbirds.
- Chan De Ciman lead the Huskies in points, putting up 20 on the night.
- Both teams had four players reach double digits in points. Easton Thimm, Alexander Dewar, and Benjamin Rose would each put up 14 for the Huskies. Fareed Shittu would record 15 for the Thunderbirds, James Woods with 14, and Tobi Akinkunmi with 12.
- Easton Thimm would lead in rebounds, finishing the game with ten in total, Thunderbirds' Tobi Akinkunmi following with eight.
- The Huskies would force 19 turnovers from the Thunderbirds, with the Thunderbirds picking off 13 from Saskatchewan.

The 'Birds are back in B.C. next week for a home-and-home with their longtime regional rivals the Victoria Vikes. The first half of the series goes down Thursday night on Vancouver Island with the rematch setting the stage for Courtside 2023 at War Memorial Gym on Saturday.
