VANCOUVER – Following the first round Wednesday, the end result was never really in doubt, but it's now official as the UBC Thunderbirds have earned their fifth consecutive Golf Canada Canadian University Championship title with a dominant showing at the Chateau Bromont course in Quebec.
Boasting a final round collective team score of three-over par, the T-Birds clobbered the competition, finishing the four round tournament at -5, a colossal 98 stroke margin of victory.
The 15
th Golf Canada title in program history, all within the past 20 years, also completes the remarkable feat of a perfect 2021-22 season for the 'Birds as they won all 12 tournaments they entered.
UBC also made it a clean sweep on the individual leaderboard as the 'Birds finished first through fourth, led by
Sonja Tang who took home the top prize after tying for the best final round with a one-under 71. The rookie from Victoria completed the 72-hole tournament at even par, three strokes ahead of teammate
Elizabeth Labbe who shot a 78 on Saturday.
Shania Remandaban finished eight off the pace in third place after a two-over par 74 in her final round.

The UBC Okanagan Heat finished three strokes back of UFV for third while the Victoria Vikes claimed sixth at +111.
Not only did the Thunderbirds clinch their 15
th Golf Canada title since 2003, they did so in dominant fashion. Holding a 26 stroke lead through the first 18 holes on Wednesday, no team came remotely close to catching them as they only grew their advantage each consecutive day.
The victory caps off a remarkable undefeated season for the T-Birds with wins at the Canada West, Cascade Collegiate Conference, NAIA National Championship and now the Golf Canada Championship, among eight other tournament wins on both sides of the border.
