‘Birds return to action with a victory over Victoria

The UBC Thunderbirds took down their provincial rival University of Victoria Vikes 31-15 in their Canada West regular season opener at Wallace Field.

UBC improves to 1-0 after Savannah Bauder capitalized on all three conversions she attempted and Florence Symonds scored two tries for the defending Canada West champion 'Birds in Victoria.

Fifth-year veteran Madison Gold opened the scoring for the T-Birds and the visitors carried a 14-10 lead into halftime before allowing just one more try in the second half en route to victory.

Selected by the Canada West coaches as the team to beat this season, the Thunderbirds are back in Vancouver on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021 for their home opener against the University of Alberta Pandas at 4:00 p.m. (PST) at the Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Centre.
