KINGSTON, ONT. – Bridget Peros' try in the 64th minute was the difference as the host Queen's Gaels defeated the UBC Thunderbirds 33-26 on Wednesday in the fourth U SPORTS Women's Rugby quarterfinal at Nixon Field.

With the victory, Queen's handed the previously undefeated UBC side their first loss of the season and en route to a second round clash with the defending U SPORTS champions Laval Rouge et Or on Friday.

Peros' game winning try came off a powerful run and masterful offload by Queen's captain Sophie de Goede setting up the game-winning try for Peros.

de Goede provided offensive support for the Gaels scoring a try and adding four converts in the match.

Maddy Kushner, Hannah Daniels and Jadyn Walker also touched down for tries in the match for Queen's.

Walker's score came in the waning moments of the first half. The fullback delivered a highlight-reel run, breaking numerous tackles before dotting down for the try.

Emma Feldinger scored two tries for the Thunderbirds, while Savannah Bauder and Piper Logan each added a try apiece for UBC.

Queen's plays Laval Rouge et Or for a berth in the final Friday, while UBC takes on the Acadian Axewomen in the consolation semifinal.
