Day one of the season-ending Canada West field hockey tournament saw the UBC Thunderbirds and University of Victoria Vikes earn victories, as the 'Birds improved to 3-2 on the season and the Vikes remain undefeated at 5-0 atop the conference. The three-day round robin tournament at Wright Field will see a Canada West champion crowned on Sunday, October 24^th.

The host T-Birds won their third straight matchup against the Dinos this season to climb above .500 with three games remaining in the tournament. Sara Goodman scored her third goal of the season while Izzy Fraser notched her second.
