T-Birds set to host Wesmen at fourth annual Courtside festival

VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds men's and women's basketball teams are preparing to play in front of a boisterous blue and gold packed house at historic War Memorial Gym for their fourth annual Courtside Basketball festival this Friday, February 7. T-Birds pride and tradition will be on full display with generations of fans and alumni gathering for the first of back-to-back games against the visiting Winnipeg Wesmen on the final weekend of the regular season.

The winningest head coach in Canada West women's basketball history Deb Huband and her squad (14-4) get the Courtside action started with a 6:00 p.m. tip off followed by Kevin Hanson, the all-time wins leader in Canada West men's coaching history and his group (14-4) starting at 8:00 p.m.

It promises to be a must attend event delivered at an excellent value. Not only is it a chance to see the 2019-20 editions of the T-Birds battling in a crucial late season contest with playoff implications still on the line, spectators will also enjoy soaking up the special atmosphere at an intimate venue.

Fans are encouraged to show up early for our pregame festival on the War Memorial Gym concourse which will feature DJs, dance performances, games, giveaways, prizes, face painting and poster making stations, as well as photo ops with our T-Bird mascot 'Thunder'
