Gabrielle Laguerta led the UBC women's basketball team with 14 points and seven rebounds in the Thunderbirds' 94-54 loss to the visiting Kent State Golden Flashes Sunday afternoon at War Memorial Gymnasium.

Tanis Metcalfe had seven points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

Five Kent State players reached double digits in scoring, with Kate Shumate leading the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Asiah Dingle had 17 points, dished out six assists and recorded six steals. Clare Kelly knocked down a game-high four three-point baskets.

UBC shot 29.1 per cent from the field, making 16 of 55 shots. At the foul line, the T-Birds were successful on 20 of 29 attempts.

Kent State shot 42.5 per cent (37 of 87), including 9-for-36 from long range, and was 11-18 on free throws. The visitors also won the rebounding battle by a count of 54-44.
