KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The UBC Thunderbirds swept their NAIA West baseball doubleheader against the host Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls Saturday afternoon at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls, Ore.
UBC (12-11, 7-3 NAIA West) hit seven home runs over the games, which the Thunderbirds won 10-0 and 13-8 against Oregon Tech (6-19, 2-8 NAIA W).
Game 1
The Thunderbirds dominated the first game as they landed five homers and scored all 10 runs in the first two innings. Â
Ty Penner and
Jordan Dray both hit two-run home runs in the opening frame, which ended with UBC ahead 6-0.
Jaxon Valcke,
Austen Butler and
Nolan Weger then hit balls out of the park in the second inning, with Butler's shot also scoring Dray.
The Owls were able to hold UBC without a run for the next five innings but struggled to score themselves due to the efforts of
Niall Windeler on the mound. Windeler struck out seven and allowed only two hits in the game to improve to 2-2. Â

Game 2
Oregon Tech jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a couple of innings. Alex Malcolm batted in a run in the first, scoring Micah Jio. An Austin Zavala homer later in the inning brought Tech's lead to three, and Xzavian Gonzales upped it to four with a double in the bottom of the second. Â
UBC came back strong in the third, with two more home runs, both two-run shots from
Brandon Hupe and Dray. A Valcke RBI double in between helped give the T-Birds a 5-4 advantage.
Josh Kallstrom and Tristan Shea hit back-to-back homers in the third give OIT the lead Back at 6-5. Â
The Thunderbirds scored two runs in the top of the fourth to regain the advantage and two more in the sixth to extend it.
Zavala and Emmett Covello batted in two runs in the eighth, but it would not be enough as UBC extended the lead to 13-8 with three runs in the ninth to seal the win. Â
Valcke and
Noah Or drove in three runs each to lead the T-Birds, while Valcke and
Wyatt Schnorr had three hits.

Brett Corbeth threw three shutout innings of relief to earn his first career win.
