KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Thunderbirds extended their win streak to four games with a second straight dominant performance over the UBC Okanagan Heat, this time with a 107-77 victory in Kelowna.
On the back-end of a weekend series with the UBC (6-2), the Heat (1-7) were able to feed off of Hafith Moallin's team-high 16 points. However, the visiting 'Birds' hot-shooting offensive attack would prove too much to handle.
Five different T-Birds managed double digit points, led by
Grant Shephard's game-high 23 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the field in just 22 minutes of action. The third-year forward added six rebounds in his hometown Saturday night.
Both teams shot the ball well from the field in the first half, with the home squad firing at 48 percent and the T-Birds connecting on 50 percent of their shots. However, it would be the Thunderbirds who would find themselves at an advantage through 20 minutes, up 46-36.
UBC's
Taylor Browne drained four-of-five from beyond the arc in the half for 14 of his 17 point performance.
Grant Audu put up 19 points going 7-for-11 from the field while
Zack Moore led the 'Birds with eight rebounds.
The T-Birds close out the 2019 portion of the Canada West season next weekend back at home when they host the Lethbridge Pronghorns at War Memorial Gym.
