VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds (2-0-2) will look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Calgary Dinos (0-2-1) on Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. PT at Wright Field.
UBC swept the Dinos in Calgary to open their Canada West season three weekends ago, winning 2-1 and 4-3 on the road thanks to two goals each on the weekend from Margaret Pham and Sara Goodman. The 'Birds sit atop the conference standings with eight points, five ahead of the University of Victoria Vikes, while the Dinos have one point on the season to date. UBC is looking to reclaim the national title after having their seven-straight championship streak broken by the Vikes last season.

Last Action
The T-Birds and Vikes played to a pair of 0-0 ties last weekend in UBC's home opening series against their longtime provincial rival in a Legends Cup battle. The two B.C. squads earned identical 4-1-3 records in 2018, but Victoria was awarded a berth to the U SPORTS Championships by way of a tie-breaker.

Calgary picked up an impressive 2-2 tie with the Vikes last weekend at home, but were shut out 3-0 the following day.
Coach's Take
Second-year Thunderbird head coach Poonam Sandhu says her team won't take Calgary lightly and are focussed on putting together a well-rounded performance.
"The Dinos are a tough side, they work hard for the entire game and they will challenge us," said Sandhu. "This isn't going to be an easy weekend so we just need to stick to our game plan and ensure that we give 110% for all four quarters."
Sandu also recognized the benefits to playing on home turf for the final weekend this season.
"Playing in front of your home crowd is always exciting, especially when you have your family and friends supporting you from the sideline. If we trust our process and stay in the moment, we will put ourselves in a good position this weekend."
