KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The UBC Thunderbirds suffered two close losses to the host Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls Sunday at the OIT Softball Complex in Klamath Falls, Ore.
OIT won the first game – a Cascade Collegiate Conference contest – by a score 6-3, and then took the series finale – a non-conference game – 4-1.
Tech improves to 19-5 on the year and 8-1 in CCC play, the Thunderbirds fall to 3-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play with today's results.

UBC started hot in Game 1 with four hits in the top of the first leading to two runs – one on a
Claire Eccles RBI groundout, and the other on a
Frances Ramsay RBI single to center field.

Tech answered with a run in the bottom of the first on a Tara Moates RBI single. The hosts added two more runs in the bottom of the second to take their first lead at 3-2.
Paige Harbord tripled to right center to lead off the top of the third inning. She scored on a Ramsay sacrifice fly to tie the game 3-3.
Tech took the lead for good with a run in the fourth and pair of runs in the sixth, highlighted by a Moates two-RBI single sealing the win at 6-3.
UBC was led by Harbord, Ramsay,
Sydney Brown, and
Shaelyn Ogilvie with two hits each.

In Game 2,
Mackenzie Siddall drove in UBC's lone run in the fifth inning, scoring
Natasha Aisenstat, to cut Oregon Tech's lead to 3-1.

The Hustlin' Owls replied with a run in the fifth, and held the visitors scoreless the rest of the way to earn their 10th in a row.

Along with Siddall, Eccles,
Taylore Jones, and
Chantelle Twynstra got the other hits in Game 2 for UBC. Twynstra (0-4) pitched a complete game, giving up three earned runs in six innings, while striking out four.

The Thunderbirds will host Southern Oregon in a pair of doubleheaders (Friday and Saturday) at Softball City in Surrey, B.C.
